Project overview
Crofty Construction was appointed to form a new cobbled driveway and access area on Lannoweth Road in Penzance, Cornwall.
The brief: replace the worn existing surface with a hard wearing cobbled driveway that would take regular vehicle traffic, sit neatly against the public highway and lift the appearance of the frontage.
Our work: we excavated and prepared the ground, laid and compacted the sub base, then set the Marshalls cobbles by hand across the full area, working the falls so surface water runs cleanly away from the buildings.
Granite kerbing was set to the edges to frame the driveway and hold the cobbles firmly in place, with security bollards installed across the entrance and the finished surface compacted and jointed.
Project outcome: the driveway was handed over as a robust, well drained cobbled surface with a clean granite edge, finished to blend with the traditional stone character of the surrounding street.
