Project overview
Crofty Construction was appointed to deliver the insulated groundworks package and external finishes for three new passive properties on a coastal site in Sennen, Cornwall.
The brief: passive buildings depend on an unbroken thermal envelope starting below ground, so the groundworks had to prepare the ground, form the foundations and protect the insulation detail that keeps heat inside the finished homes.
Our work: the package included the excavation and preparation of the foundation build up for all three properties, with insulation installed and protected as the groundworks progressed, alongside the services and drainage buried beneath the new homes.
Externally, we completed the finishes around the properties, including rendered boundary walls, paved areas and landscaping, giving the development a neat, finished setting on the lane into Sennen.
Project outcome: all three passive properties were handed over with their insulated groundworks complete and the external finishes finished to a high standard, ready for the homes to perform as designed.
